Katsina Govt Hosts French MPs, MSF Delegation to Combat Malnutrition

The Katsina State Government welcomed a high-level delegation of French parliamentarians and the Global Médecins Sans Frontières (MSF) team, led by Stéphane Doyon, Head of Operations from Paris, to discuss potential partnerships aimed at addressing malnutrition and enhancing food security in the state.

The visit, announced on Monday, September 29, 2025, underscores Katsina’s proactive efforts to tackle pressing humanitarian challenges.

Governor Dikko Umaru Radda highlighted the state’s swift response to a recent malnutrition report, which prompted the formation of a technical committee to evaluate findings and propose solutions.

The committee’s recommendations are now being implemented, including the distribution of grains to vulnerable households and the establishment of nutrition centers across all local government areas.

A notable initiative is the approval of a Tom Brown Factory in Katsina, designed to combat malnutrition while creating jobs and stimulating economic growth. The delegation toured the Turai Yar’adua Hospital, engaging with medical staff and reviewing ongoing interventions.

They praised Katsina’s proactive measures, including the implementation of the committee’s report and complementary efforts such as providing farm inputs and fostering peace-building initiatives to enable farmers to safely return to their lands, boosting food production.

Governor Radda expressed gratitude to the delegation for their commitment and emphasized the state’s eagerness to forge a robust partnership to deliver sustainable solutions to malnutrition and food insecurity.

He also acknowledged the contributions of local partners, including the Katsina Development and Management Board, the Ministry of Health, the State Primary Healthcare Development Agency, and the ANRiN Project Coordination Office.
