The Kaduna State Schools Quality Assurance Authority (KSSQAA) has issued a directive to all private school proprietors and proprietresses, mandating written approval for any increase in school fees or institutional upgrades.
The announcement, signed by Mercy Binta Kude, Director of the Private Schools Department, emphasizes strict adherence to regulatory requirements.
The KSSQAA highlighted that no proprietor or proprietress should raise fees or upgrade facilities without prior authorization.
The authority urges private schools to align with state government efforts, especially when fees in state-owned institutions are being reduced.
Key conditions for fee increments include a minimum three-year gap since the last increase, approval from a Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) meeting with a quorum, and a formal application to the Director-General of KSSQAA specifying the fee increase amount.
Applications must also include typed PTA meeting minutes, attendance sheets, and a clear justification for the increase, alongside current enrollment data and details of both new and old fee structures.
This move aims to ensure transparency and fairness in the education sector, with proprietors encouraged to stay updated on dynamic government regulations.
