Gunmen attacked a convoy of Vau & Co. Mining Company in the Saminaka, Ejiba area of Yagba West, Kogi State, killing a soldier and abducting four Chinese engineers. The convoy was en route to a mining site when the ambush occurred.
According to security analyst Zagazola Makama, the assailants killed a Private from the 12 Brigade, Lokoja, and injured Inspector Jubril Mohammed of the 45 PMF, Force Headquarters Abuja, with a gunshot to his left arm.
The abducted Chinese nationals were identified as Mr. Zhou Dansu, Mr. Zhou Hai, Mr. Zhou Jiajun, and Mr. Fan Xiuguo.
Inspector Mohammed is currently receiving treatment at ECWA Hospital, Egbe, with his service rifle secured.
A joint operation involving the police, Nigerian Army, local vigilantes, and hunters has been launched to rescue the kidnapped victims and apprehend the attackers.
