Gunmen Kidnap Wife, Daughter of Kwara APC Chairman

Unknown gunmen have abducted the wife and daughter of Alhaji Abdulrasheed Isiaka, the All Progressives Congress (APC) Chairman for Ipako Oba Ward in Asa Local Government Area of Kwara State, in a daring attack that has heightened security concerns in the region.

The incident, which occurred late Saturday night, September 6, 2025, was confirmed by police authorities and reported by Sahara Reporters.According to sources, the assailants stormed Isiaka’s residence in Ipako Oba around 11:30 PM, firing sporadically to instill fear before abducting the victims.

The gunmen reportedly fled into the surrounding bush with the APC chairman’s wife and daughter, leaving the community in shock.

While no group has claimed responsibility, local residents suspect the involvement of bandits who have increasingly targeted rural areas in Kwara State.

The Kwara State Police Command, through its spokesperson, DSP Toun Ejire-Adeyemi, confirmed the kidnapping and stated that security operatives have been deployed to track the perpetrators and secure the victims’ release.

“We are working tirelessly with local vigilantes and other security agencies to ensure the safe return of the abducted persons,” Ejire-Adeyemi said, urging residents to provide any information that could aid the investigation.

The abduction comes amid a wave of insecurity in Kwara North, with recent attacks reported in communities across the region.

The latest incident has intensified calls for stronger security measures, with community leaders urging the state government to address the escalating banditry.

Alhaji Isiaka, devastated by the abduction, appealed for calm and called on authorities to act swiftly. “My family is my everything. I beg the government and security agencies to do all they can to bring them back safely,” he said in a statement.

The attack follows other recent violent incidents in Kwara, including a deadly assault on a community in Kwara North on September 7, 2025, where gunmen invaded a monarch’s palace, killed residents, and abducted several others.

Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq has faced criticism for the state’s handling of security, with some accusing local leaders of downplaying the crisis to avoid political embarrassment.
