Ogun governor, Dapo Abiodun, has met with the body overseeing traditional and administrative matters during the transition period of installing a new Awujale of Ijebu-Ode.
According to Rasak Sekoni, Information Officer at the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, the meeting took place on Friday in Abeokuta.
While receiving the Transition Council in Abeokuta, Abiodun said the installation of an Awujale required a detailed and carefully coordinated process.
He recalled that inaugurating the Council in August was necessary to sustain the traditional and administrative roles long associated with the Awujale Palace.
The governor was represented by the Commissioner of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs, Mr Ganiyu Hamzat.
Abiodun assured government support, stressing that the Council’s success was crucial to sustaining the legacy of late Oba Sikiru Kayode Adetona.
He urged the Council to be united, fair and unbiased in discharging their responsibilities in the collective interest of all stakeholders.
Abiodun further charged members to maintain neutrality when the process of filling the Awujale’s vacant stool formally begins.
