Governor Umar Namadi of Jigawa State has officially endorsed President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027, declaring that the president's sweeping economic reforms are not only stabilizing Nigeria but also paving the way for a brighter future for its citizens.
The endorsement, delivered during the Jigawa State Government's weekly Citizens’ Engagement Programme in Roni Local Government Area on September 21, marked a significant moment in the early jockeying for the 2027 general elections.
Namadi, flanked by cheering supporters, raised both hands in a dramatic four-finger salute—a gesture widely interpreted as a full-throated commitment to Tinubu's "Renewed Hope" agenda.
As a popular praise song by musician Rarara blared in the background, the governor proclaimed, “Jigawa is for President Bola Tinubu, and we will deliver the state to him come 2027, Insha’Allah.”
Namadi, the first governor from Nigeria's North-West zone to publicly back Tinubu's re-election, lauded the president's policies for their "visible changes and economic reforms" achieved in just two years of his administration.
"The people of Jigawa are satisfied with President Tinubu’s exemplary and impactful leadership, which has improved their social and economic lives," Namadi told journalists after the event, urging Nigerians to exercise patience as the reforms take root.
The governor's remarks come amid growing optimism within APC ranks about consolidating power in the North-West, a region that played a pivotal role in Tinubu's 2023 victory.
