Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke has dismissed speculations of defecting to the African Democratic Congress (ADC) ahead of the 2026 governorship election, affirming his loyalty to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP).
In a statement issued on Wednesday, September 17, 2025, by his spokesperson, Olawale Rasheed, Adeleke described the defection rumors as "untrue" and a deliberate attempt to create confusion among Osun residents.
"Governor Adeleke remains committed to the PDP and has no plan to join the ADC or any other party," the statement read.
The governor emphasized that his focus is on delivering democratic dividends to Osun residents, who gave him a strong mandate three years ago.
He and PDP leaders are actively strengthening the party’s structures for the ongoing voter registration ahead of the 2026 election, which he is poised to contest.
The statement accused those spreading misinformation of exploiting Adeleke’s widespread popularity to sway public support, noting that unsolicited endorsements of the governor are unsettling his opponents.
It urged the public to ignore defection rumors and called on supporters to mobilize votes for Adeleke’s re-election under the PDP banner.
"Governor Adeleke recognizes the overwhelming goodwill and confidence that Osun people have in the PDP and his leadership. He will not go against the will of the people," the statement concluded.
