FG Unveils Free Business Registration for 250,000 MSMEs, Targets ₦3 Billion in Savings

As part of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda, the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency of Nigeria (SMEDAN) have launched a free registration program for 250,000 nano, micro, and small enterprises (MSMEs) across Nigeria.

The initiative, formalized through a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) in Abuja, aims to eliminate cost and bureaucratic barriers that have hindered entrepreneurs from entering the formal economy.

CAC Registrar-General, Hussaini Ishaq Magaji (SAN), announced that the CAC is waiving ₦3 billion in registration fees to provide MSMEs with legitimacy, market access, and financial opportunities.

SMEDAN Director-General, Dr. Charles Odii, emphasized that registered businesses will receive additional benefits, including grants, training, technical support, and access to new markets.

Entrepreneurs can apply via portal.smedan.gov.ng, with eligible unregistered businesses automatically enrolled.

The program is celebrated as a transformative step, connecting MSMEs to Nigeria’s growth ecosystem and advancing the Renewed Hope Agenda’s vision for economic inclusion.
