Starting Thursday, September 18, 2025, Dangote Petroleum Refinery has suspended direct fuel pickups at its facility, as announced in an email from the Group Commercial Operations Department to its marketing partners.
The refinery directed partners to pause all payments for active Product Fulfillment Instructions (PFIs) related to self-collection, stating that payments made after September 18 will not be honored.
The email read, “Effective 18th September 2025, Dangote Petroleum Refinery and Petrochemicals FZE has placed all self-collection gantry sales on hold until further notice. All payments related to active PFIs for self-collection are also on hold, and any payment made after this date will not be honored.”
The refinery explained that the change aims to streamline operations and minimize issues. It encouraged customers to enroll in its Free Delivery Scheme, which ensures direct fuel shipments to retail outlets and remains fully operational.
“We urge all active and new customers to register for the DPRP Free Delivery Scheme, which offers a seamless delivery experience to your station,” the statement added.
Dangote apologized for any inconvenience, saying, “We sincerely apologise for any inconvenience this may cause and appreciate your understanding as we implement this operational adjustment.”
The decision comes amid ongoing disputes with the Nigeria Union of Petroleum and Natural Gas Workers (NUPENG) and the Depot and Petroleum Products Marketers Association of Nigeria (DAPPMAN).
NUPENG accused Dangote of resisting unionization of its truck drivers, despite a government-mediated agreement.
DAPPMAN criticized the Free Delivery Scheme, claiming marketers are forced to use Dangote’s fleet at commercial rates. In response, Dangote defended the scheme, stating it ensures stable fuel supplies and lower costs while accusing some marketers of seeking undue subsidies and diverting fuel illegally.
