Bauchi Supporter Pledges September Salary for First Lady’s Birthday Library Project

Khamis Musa, a staunch supporter of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in Bauchi State, has vowed to donate his entire September salary to support the 65th birthday celebration of Nigeria’s First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu.

The pledge aligns with the First Lady’s call for well-wishers to forgo traditional birthday gifts and newspaper advertisements, instead contributing funds to a National Library project.

In a statement issued on Thursday, Musa expressed his admiration for Senator Tinubu’s commitment to education and public welfare, describing her library initiative as a transformative legacy.

“I am inspired by the First Lady’s vision to empower future generations through knowledge. Donating my salary is my way of supporting her noble cause,” Musa said.

Senator Tinubu, who will mark her 65th birthday on September 21, 2025, had earlier urged supporters to channel birthday gestures into a dedicated account for the National Library project, aimed at enhancing access to educational resources nationwide.

The initiative reflects her longstanding advocacy for literacy and youth development.

Musa’s pledge has sparked mixed reactions in Bauchi, with some praising his generosity and others questioning the prioritization of such contributions amid economic challenges.

The First Lady’s office is yet to comment on Musa’s gesture but has previously acknowledged similar donations as vital to the library’s success.

Details of the dedicated account for contributions have been shared through official channels, with transparency measures promised to ensure proper utilization of funds.

She said: “By the special grace of God, I will be turning 65 years old on the 21st September 2025, and this happens to be a Sunday.

“This is why I have decided to dedicate the day to God for all his blessings in my life and have a quiet birthday,” she said.

“I wish to appeal to those who would like to send a birthday card, cakes, flowers, greetings in the newspapers, or gifts to please send the funds to the designated account for a special project close to my heart, among many others.

“The completion of the National Library, this would be the best birthday present I could receive.

“My love for education has informed my decision to dedicate my birthday to this worthy cause,” she added.

Meanwhile, Khamis had offered to support her with his September salary. According to him, the President’s wife meant well for the education sector in the country and needed to be supported by Nigerians.
