In a decisive operation, troops from the 6 Brigade Nigerian Army (NA) and Sector 3 Operation Whirl Stroke (OPWS) rescued seven individuals abducted by suspected kidnappers along the Chinkai–Kente–Wukari road on August 3, 2025.
The announcement was made by Lieutenant Umar Muhammad, Acting Assistant Director of Army Public Relations, 6 Brigade, on August 6.The rescue mission, conducted on August 5 and 6, saw troops overpower the kidnappers with superior firepower, forcing them to abandon the victims and flee.
Four victims were safely recovered in Chinkai Forest on August 5, followed by the rescue of three female victims in Owedi Community, Wukari Local Government Area, on August 6.
The operation underscores the Nigerian Army’s dedication to combating kidnapping and ensuring the safety of Taraba State residents.
Brigadier General Kingsley Chidiebere Uwa, Commander of 6 Brigade NA/Sector 3 OPWS, praised the troops’ commitment and vowed to maintain aggressive efforts to curb criminality and protect lives and property across the state.
