The Ogun State Police Command has initiated an investigation into the sudden death of Akawa Boluwatife Samuel, a 20-year-old fresh graduate of Information Technology from Babcock University, Ilisan Remo.
The tragic incident, which occurred on Wednesday, July 30, 2025, has left the university community in shock as authorities work to uncover the cause of the young man’s untimely passing.
According to security sources cited by Zagazola Makama, Boluwatife was rushed to the Babcock University Teaching Hospital by his roommates on July 30 but was pronounced dead by the attending medical doctor.
Police detectives who visited the scene gathered initial statements, including one from Adili Leonard Chimdindu, a roommate of the deceased.
Adili revealed that Boluwatife had complained of cold-like symptoms and difficulty breathing on July 27 and was advised to seek treatment at the University Medical Centre.
The deceased and his roommates were on campus to complete their clearance process ahead of their graduation, with Boluwatife planning to return home shortly after.
Adili noted that Boluwatife appeared in good spirits the night before his death, playing games on his laptop until approximately 11:00 p.m. However, by the following morning, he was found unresponsive.
Police have documented the scene, taking photographs of the deceased, and recorded a statement from Boluwatife’s elder brother, Akawa Toluwanimi John.
The body has been transferred to the university morgue, where it awaits autopsy to determine the cause of death.
The Ogun State Police Command has assured the public that a thorough investigation is underway to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
As the Babcock University community mourns the loss of a promising young graduate, questions linger about the sudden nature of Boluwatife’s death.
Authorities have urged anyone with relevant information to come forward as the investigation continues.
