The Nigerian National Petroleum Company, NNPC, Retail Limited has dismissed a pump attendant and suspended a station manager over an alleged attempt to defraud a customer at one of its outlets in Ikorodu, Lagos State.
In a statement issued on Friday, the company said it became
aware of the incident after a video showing the pump attendant’s misconduct
went viral on social media.
The sack of the pump attendant followed an internal
investigation, the company said.
“The Nigerian National Petroleum Company Retail Limited
wishes to state clearly that such conduct is completely unacceptable and runs
contrary to our values of integrity, transparency, and premium customer
service,” the statement read.
The company said it acted in line with its sanction policy,
taking the following measures:
Termination of the pump attendant’s employment.
Suspension of the Station Manager.
Issuance of a formal warning letter to the dealer in charge
of the station.
NNPC Retail commended members of the public for their
vigilance and urged customers to promptly report similar incidents through the
official customer service numbers and email displayed at all NNPC stations for
immediate action.
