Nigerian Soldier K!lled, Two Injured in Yobe Military Vehicle Crash

A Nigerian Army soldier lost his life, and two others sustained injuries when a military vehicle crashed along the Damaturu–Jos Highway in Yobe State on Wednesday, according to sources.

The accident occurred in the early hours near Tazara village, approximately 15 kilometers from Damaturu, the state capital.

Details of the incident remain limited, but preliminary reports indicate that the vehicle, part of a military convoy, veered off the road under unclear circumstances.

Eyewitnesses reported that the crash caused significant damage to the vehicle, trapping the occupants. Local residents and emergency responders assisted in extracting the soldiers, but one was pronounced dead at the scene.

The two injured soldiers were rushed to a nearby medical facility for treatment, with their conditions yet to be disclosed.

A military source, speaking anonymously, confirmed the incident but provided no further details, stating that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the crash.

The Damaturu–Jos Highway, a critical route linking Nigeria’s North-East to other regions, has been the site of several accidents due to its challenging terrain and heavy traffic.

The Nigerian Army is yet to issue an official statement, but the incident adds to growing concerns about road safety for military personnel operating in the region, particularly amid ongoing counter-insurgency operations against Boko Haram.

The loss of the soldier has sparked tributes from colleagues and locals, who described the deceased as a dedicated serviceman committed to securing the region.

Further updates are expected as authorities investigate the circumstances surrounding the crash
