The Nigeria Police Force has announced the promotion of its Force Public Relations Officer (FPRO), Olumuyiwa Adejobi, from Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) to Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP).
The elevation, approved by the Police Service Commission, recognizes DCP Adejobi’s exceptional service, professionalism, and unwavering commitment to advancing the core values of policing in Nigeria.
Adejobi, a seasoned police officer and skilled public relations practitioner, has been a transformative figure in the Nigeria Police Force since his appointment as acting FPRO on February 16, 2022, succeeding Commissioner of Police Frank Mba.
His appointment was later confirmed by then-Inspector General of Police, Usman Alkali Baba. Over the years, Adejobi has become a respected voice in Nigeria’s security sector, leveraging his extensive experience to enhance public trust, improve accountability, and modernize the Force’s communication systems.
A graduate of the University of Ibadan, where he earned a degree in Archaeology and Geography and a Master’s in Peace and Conflict Studies, Adejobi also trained at the Nigeria Police Academy in Wudil, Kano.
His career spans decades, with notable roles including Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) for Ogun State Command (2008–2016), PPRO for Zone 2 Headquarters in Lagos (2016), and PPRO for Lagos State Police Command (2020–2021).
He also served as Deputy Force PRO before assuming his current role.
Inspector General of Police, Kayode Egbetokun, congratulated DCP Adejobi on his well-deserved promotion, urging him to continue exemplifying discipline, service, and integrity.
“DCP Adejobi’s elevation reflects his dedication to duty and the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to rewarding merit and professionalism,” Egbetokun stated.
The Force reiterated its focus on recognizing officers who demonstrate excellence and contribute to rebuilding public confidence in law enforcement.
A member of several professional bodies, including the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR) and the International Association of Chiefs of Police (IACP), Adejobi is known for his advocacy for equity, justice, and fairness.
His strategic initiatives have significantly shaped the public image of the Nigeria Police Force, making him a pivotal figure in its ongoing reforms.
