Nigeria Governors’ Forum Appoints New Leadership to Drive Strategic Reforms


The Nigeria Governors’ Forum (NGF), representing the 36 state governors, has unveiled a series of senior-level appointments to overhaul its operations and advance critical reforms.


Following recommendations from Deloitte, which was tasked with restructuring the NGF Secretariat to meet global standards, the new appointments cover key areas including finance, policy, security, and communications. 


NGF Director General Dr. Abdulateef Shittu approved the appointments to strengthen the Secretariat’s capabilities, improve program execution, and enhance coordination with states and partners, according to a statement by Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, Director of Media and Strategic Communications.


The appointees include: Mr. Edmund O. Nnaji, Executive Director, Finance & Administration, a legal expert in corporate finance and dispute resolution.   


Prof. Dauda Olalekan Yinusa, Executive Director, Policy, Strategy & Research, an economist and former Commissioner for Economic Planning with extensive fiscal reform experience.   


Dr. Ahmad Abdulwahab, Executive Director, Programs & Partnerships, a public health specialist with prior roles at Clinton Health Access Initiative and Africa CDC.   


Barr. Chuku Chijioke Chuku, General Counsel & Head, Energy, a seasoned lawyer and reform expert.   


Mrs. Hauwa Haliru-Hassan, Director, Gender Affairs & CEO, Nigeria Governors’ Spouses Forum, a champion for gender equity.   


Dr. Ibrahim Ahmad Katsina, Senior Security Adviser, a security expert with a doctorate in Peace and Inclusive Security.   


Mr. Yunusa Tanko Abdullahi, Director, Media and Strategic Communications, a media strategist with public sector experience. 

 

The NGF emphasized that these appointments align with Deloitte’s organizational review, aiming to transform the Secretariat into a modern policy hub for Nigeria’s states. 


“This restructuring marks a shift toward a more dynamic and results-oriented institution,” the statement noted, highlighting the Forum’s focus on addressing governance challenges like security and human capital development.


The NGF reaffirmed its dedication to promoting collaboration, innovation, and sustainable development across Nigeria’s 36 states.
