Nigeria’s Minister of Power, Adebayo Adelabu, has assured citizens that the country will achieve a full and uninterrupted electricity supply before President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s tenure ends.
The pledge was made during the commissioning of the Kwaru 1X15 MVA 33/11KV Injection Substation in the Ikotun-Egbe suburb of Lagos on Saturday, August 2.
Speaking at the event, Adelabu highlighted the substation as a milestone in the Tinubu administration’s efforts to bolster Nigeria’s power infrastructure.
The new facility, designed to enhance electricity distribution in the densely populated Lagos suburb, is expected to serve over 10,000 households and businesses, improving local access to reliable power.
“We are committed to transforming Nigeria’s power sector. By the time President Tinubu leaves office in 2031, Nigerians will enjoy 24/7 electricity,” Adelabu declared, emphasizing ongoing reforms, including investments in transmission and distribution networks.
He noted that the Kwaru substation, equipped with modern technology, would reduce outages and stabilize supply in the area.
The minister’s remarks come amid persistent challenges in Nigeria’s power sector, where frequent grid collapses and inadequate generation capacity have long frustrated citizens.
