Rasaq Gafar, a 32-year-old man, was arraigned on Wednesday, August 6, 2025, before the Iyaganku Chief Magistrates’ Court in Ibadan for allegedly threatening the life of Osun State Governor Ademola Adeleke.
The incident reportedly occurred on July 12 in Ibadan.Prosecutor Matthew Ojei told the court that Gafar posted threatening messages on social media targeting the governor and conducted himself in a manner likely to cause a breach of peace.
The charges, which include threat to kill, threat to life, and breach of peace, contravene Sections 249(D) and 323 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State, 2000.
Gafar pleaded not guilty. His counsel, Marvelous Ojeleye, requested bail on liberal terms.
Chief Magistrate Olabisi Ogunkanmi granted bail of N2.5 million with two sureties in like sum, one of whom must own landed property and the other a blood relative of the defendant.
The case was adjourned until November 13, 2025, for a hearing.
