Elisha Abbo, former Adamawa north senator, says he has fasted and prayed for 31 days to seek God’s guidance on his next political move.
In a post via X on Friday, Abbo, who defected from the
Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC) in 2020,
said at the time, he made the decision without spiritual guidance.
“In 2020, I left PDP for APC without praying and asking
God’s direction on which party to join,” he wrote.
“I left for tangible reasons and raw instincts and joined
APC out of human judgment and to flow with the tide.”
Abbo, however, said he is now seeking divine direction ahead
of his planned exit from the APC.
“This time around, I undertook 31 days of fasting and
prayers, seeking direction among other things, I asked God to do for me,” he
said.
“In few weeks time, a tentative official statement will be
issued by my humble self after due final consultation with my people on what
the spirit told me.
“I am no longer moved by sight, sweet words, emotions or
just mere instincts. I am now moved by the spirit of God and calm, spirited
negotiations.”
Abbo was first elected to the senate in 2019 on the platform
of the PDP before defecting to the APC the following year.
He was re-elected in 2023, but in October, the court of
appeal sacked him and declared Amos Yohanna, candidate of the PDP, as the
winner of the Adamawa north senatorial election.
