Unidentified gunmen k!lled two police officers attached to Kingsley Ikoro, the Majority Leader of the Ebonyi State House of Assembly, in an ambush in Okigwe, Imo State, on Sunday, August 3.
The attack occurred while the officers were traveling with Ikoro’s entourage. A vehicle breakdown forced the officers to stay behind, leaving them vulnerable to the assault.Okigwe is known as a hotspot for violent attacks in the state.
Imo State Police Command spokesperson Henry Okoye condemned the killings, vowing to apprehend the culprits.
“There is no hiding place for those behind this heinous crime,” Okoye stated.
The officers’ bodies have been moved to a morgue, and tactical teams are actively searching the surrounding areas for the perpetrators, who Okoye promised would face justice.
