Datti Baba-Ahmed’s claims are personal, inaccurate - ADC

The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has distanced itself from comments made by Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed, the 2023 Labour Party vice-presidential candidate, who criticized the opposition coalition as deceptive and incapable of addressing Nigeria’s challenges.

In a statement by Deputy National Publicity Secretary Jackie Wayas, the ADC labeled Baba-Ahmed’s remarks as “personal opinions” that do not align with the party’s stance.

“Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed’s assertions are his personal opinions and do not reflect the position of the ADC or its coalition partners,” Ways stated.

The ADC emphasized its dedication to uniting opposition forces for the 2027 elections to provide a credible alternative to President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

The coalition includes prominent figures like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, former Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Senator David Mark, Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola, Rotimi Amaechi, and Peter Obi, who have united to prioritize national interest and deliver compassionate leadership.

The party highlighted Peter Obi’s endorsement of the ADC as the coalition’s platform for 2027, noting his call for unity to tackle poverty and insecurity.

The ADC clarified that Baba-Ahmed’s statements do not reflect the views of the coalition or its partners.

Extending an invitation to Baba-Ahmed, Wayas described him as a respected advocate for integrity and justice, urging him to join the coalition’s vision for a better Nigeria.

“Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed is a respected voice who has always stood for integrity and justice. Since the coalition is a collective effort that requires the strength and skills of all patriots, we sincerely hope he comes on board to contribute to this shared vision for a better Nigeria,” Wayas added.

The ADC called on Nigerians to support its mission to rescue the nation through a transformative agenda.“Nigerians deserve unity and clarity for a better future. Join the ADC to rescue Nigeria,” Wayas concluded.
