In a heartwarming moment that has sent fans into a frenzy, soccer superstar Cristiano Ronaldo and his long-term partner, Georgina Rodríguez, have officially announced their engagement.
The couple, who have been together since 2016, shared the joyous news on Monday, August 11, 2025, with Rodríguez posting a photo on Instagram showcasing a stunning, massive diamond engagement ring on her left hand.
The caption, translated from Spanish, read, “Yes, I do. In this and in all my lives,” accompanied by a photo of her hand resting atop Ronaldo’s, highlighting the dazzling oval-shaped sparkler.
The announcement, tagged to Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, where Ronaldo currently plays for Al-Nassr FC, marks a significant milestone for the couple, who have been together for nearly a decade.
The engagement comes after years of speculation and anticipation from fans, many of whom followed their journey on Rodríguez’s Netflix reality series, I Am Georgina, where she openly discussed her hopes for a proposal.
Ronaldo, 40, and Rodríguez, 31, first met in 2016 at a Gucci store in Madrid, where Rodríguez worked as a sales assistant.
Their romance blossomed quickly, and they made their public debut as a couple at the Best FIFA Football Awards in Zurich in January 2017, going Instagram official a few months later in May.
Over the years, the couple has built a strong family, sharing four children: twins Eva Maria and Mateo (born via surrogacy in 2017), daughter Alana (born in 2017), and daughter Bella (born in 2022).
Tragically, Bella’s twin brother, Ángel, passed away during childbirth in April 2022, a loss the couple publicly mourned.
Ronaldo is also the father of Cristiano Jr., 15, from a previous relationship.
The engagement news follows Ronaldo’s hints earlier in 2025 about a future proposal. In a March interview on I Am Georgina, he spoke of waiting for the right “click” to propose, confidently stating, “I’m 1,000 percent sure it will happen.”
