Lere Olayinka, the Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has tackled Peter Obi for berating the Nigerian government over the recent hike in the cost of the country’s international passport.
Olayinka said the cost of the Nigerian international
passport has never been lower than the minimum wage.
Recall that the Federal Government on Thursday
announced an increment in the cost of international passport fees.
A 32-page booklet now goes for N100,000 while 64 pages go
for N200,000.
But, the former Anambra State governor tackled the Nigerian
government, saying the cost of an international passport was higher than the
minimum wage.
However, apparently responding to Obi in a post on X,
Olayinka wrote: “Was there any time in Nigeria that the cost of International
Passport was lower than Minimum Wage?
“Is International Passport part of the cost of living
anywhere in the world?”
