Arsenal have clinched a major transfer victory by agreeing a deal worth over £60 million to sign Crystal Palace’s star midfielder Eberechi Eze, outpacing rivals Tottenham Hotspur.
The 27-year-old, who was let go by Arsenal as a youth player, is set for a dramatic return to the Emirates.
Spurs were initially favored to sign Eze, but Arsenal acted decisively after Kai Havertz suffered a knee injury in their recent win against Manchester United.
Havertz’s absence from Wednesday’s open training session spurred Arsenal to finalize a fee close to Eze’s £68 million release clause, matching Tottenham’s proposed offer.
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner emphasized the commitment of Eze and captain Marc Guehi, another transfer target, ahead of their Conference League play-off against Fredrikstad.
“They are fully dedicated to Palace and will give everything while they’re here,” Glasner stated.
With Eze’s contract running until 2027, his electrifying performances have drawn interest from elite clubs, but Arsenal have now surged ahead to secure his signature in a blockbuster move.
