The Anambra State Executive Council (ANSEC) has approved contracts totaling approximately ₦3.6 billion for a range of infrastructure projects, including roads, power, and school rehabilitation, as part of Governor Chukwuma Soludo’s vision to transform the state.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information, Dr. Law Mefor, following the 15th ANSEC meeting held at the Light House, Awka, on Thursday, July 31, 2025.
Among the key projects, ₦1.8 billion was allocated for the construction of a 2.5-km access road connecting communities in Nnewi South to the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, awarded to Zest Construction Ltd.
Additionally, ₦900 million was approved for the installation of solar-powered streetlights across urban and rural areas to enhance security and promote nighttime economic activities, with the contract awarded to SolarTech Nigeria Ltd.
In the education sector, ₦718 million was earmarked for the renovation of dilapidated classroom blocks at the Nwafor Orizu College of Education, Nsugbe, distributed among Biggstruct Engineering Ltd, Zonel Projects Ltd, and Euro Energy Resources.
Dr. Mefor emphasized that these projects align with the Soludo administration’s commitment to improving connectivity, energy access, and educational infrastructure.
“These initiatives are part of our broader strategy to make Anambra a livable and prosperous state, addressing critical needs while fostering economic growth,” he said.
The council also approved ₦182 million for the rehabilitation of water supply systems in rural communities, awarded to Aqua Solutions Ltd, to tackle water scarcity issues.
The projects are expected to be completed within 12 to 18 months, with a focus on quality and transparency.
The approvals come amid the state’s ongoing efforts to enhance infrastructure, as evidenced by recent contracts worth over ₦54.9 billion for roads, education, and other developments.
Governor Soludo’s administration continues to prioritize strategic investments to position Anambra as a hub for innovation and progress, with residents expressing optimism about the potential impact on local communities.
