The Adamawa State Government has celebrated Super Falcons coach Justine Madugu, an indigene of Numan Local Government Area, for leading Nigeria’s women’s football team to its 10th Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) title in Morocco.
During a ceremony at the Government House in Yola on Friday, August 1, 2025, Governor Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri presented Madugu with a three-bedroom bungalow and a ₦50 million cash reward.
Governor Fintiri lauded Madugu’s leadership and tactical brilliance, calling the victory a source of pride for both Adamawa and Nigeria.
“This is a moment of immense pride for Adamawa. Coach Madugu’s technical expertise has elevated Nigeria’s status on the continental stage and brought honor to our state,” Fintiri said.
In his response, Madugu expressed deep gratitude for the recognition. “I am overwhelmed by this honor from my state and its people. I thank God and Governor Fintiri for this gesture,” he said.
Reflecting on his journey, he added, “Taking this role was a challenge to show that northerners can excel at the highest levels. I wanted to leave a legacy that inspires pride and respect for Adamawa."
The WAFCON victory, marked by a 3-2 win over Morocco, has sparked nationwide celebrations, with Madugu’s achievement earning accolades from President Bola Tinubu and other state leaders.
