The Minister of Regional Development, Engr. Abubakar Momoh, announced the immediate appointment of Hon. Lawal Sama’ila Abdullahi Yakawada as Chairman of All Boards of Commissions under the Federal Ministry of Regional Development on Friday, August 29, 2025.
The appointment tasks Yakawada with overseeing policy coordination, fostering collaboration, and driving the effective implementation of the National Development Plan to enhance regional integration and socio-economic growth across Nigeria.
Speaking at the announcement in Abuja, Minister Momoh praised Yakawada as “a seasoned administrator, visionary leader, and patriotic Nigerian” whose experience will strengthen the ministry’s alignment with the President’s agenda.“
"This appointment reflects Hon. Yakawada’s proven leadership and commitment to national development. We are confident he will lead the commissions to deliver transformative results,” Momoh stated.
In his new role, Yakawada is expected to champion innovative strategies to align the commissions’ operations with the ministry’s goals for impactful service delivery.
Accepting the role, Yakawada expressed gratitude to President Tinubu and Minister Momoh, vowing to advance the government’s developmental objectives.
“This is a call to service I accept with humility. My focus will be on driving collaboration, enhancing efficiency, and ensuring every commission contributes to our national growth,” he said.
