The Yobe State Executive Council has approved over N40 billion for a range of capital projects aimed at enhancing infrastructure, agriculture, and public services across the state.
The announcement was made by the Commissioner for Information, Home Affairs, and Culture, Abdullahi Bego, following a council meeting chaired by Governor Mai Mala Buni on July 30, 2025, in Damaturu.
According to Bego, the approved projects span multiple sectors, including infrastructure, agriculture, healthcare, and youth empowerment.
Notable allocations include N1.7 billion for constructing office complexes to house five state agencies and N962.65 million for a dedicated office building for the Yobe Investment Company Ltd.
To boost commercial activities, the council approved N2.7 billion for the Machina Modern Market, N3 billion as a variation for the Geidam Modern Market, and N3.9 billion to complete the Potiskum Modern Market.
In the transportation sector, N6.1 billion was allocated for a Central Motor Park in Damaturu, alongside N248 million for the first phase of remodeling the Yobe Line Terminus.
Agriculture received significant attention, with N3.8 billion approved for agricultural inputs to support dry season farming, N480 million for 490 solar-powered water pumps, N1.3 billion for 1,412 additional solar-powered water pumps, and N5.3 billion for NPK 20:10:10 fertilizers for the 2025 farming season.
Additionally, N396.92 million was approved to reconstruct a collapsed water control gate in Alagarno village, Bade Local Government Area.Road infrastructure projects include N1.25 billion for the 5km Daya-Fadawa road, N4.38 billion for the 18.5km Mashio-Ngelzarma road, N671 million for the 2.5km Nahuta-Ngojin road, and N5.3 billion for the Damaturu-Gambir road.
Healthcare initiatives were also prioritized, with N1.4 billion allocated for construction works in selected health facilities and training institutions, and N1.23 billion for procuring medical and laboratory equipment for secondary and tertiary healthcare facilities.
To promote job creation and entrepreneurship, the council approved N442 million for 100 complete barbershop equipment sets and N233 million for 50 hairdressing salon equipment sets, aimed at empowering youth and fostering economic growth.
Bego emphasized that these approvals reflect Governor Buni’s commitment to improving infrastructure, strengthening public services, and enhancing livelihoods across Yobe State.
The projects are expected to address critical needs, boost economic activity, and improve the quality of life for residents, aligning with the state’s broader development goals.
