The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, on Friday challenged the Interim National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress, ADC, David Mark, and a chieftain of the opposition coalition, Rotimi Amaechi, to stop deceiving Nigerians.
Wike said the coalition under the leadership of Mark,
Amaechi and others in the party would not return to power in 2027.
He spoke during the commissioning of the newly rehabilitated
Aguma Palace-Radio Nigeria-New Market Road in the Gwagwalada area council of
the FCT.
The project, commissioned by Vice President Kashim Shettima,
who represented President Bola Tinubu, was part of those earmarked to celebrate
Tinubu’s second term in office.
Wike seized the occasion to challenge Mark, Amaechi, and
other leaders of the coalition to reveal their scorecards from when they were
in office to Nigerians.
He said: “They said that the coalition started 18 months ago
and Tinubu has been in office for two years, so you started the coalition when
he was in office for just six months; 18 months ago you started the coalition,
meanwhile he was in office for just six months.
“When will you stop deceiving Nigerians? You [Mark] had the
opportunity to be Senate President for eight years. You [Ameachi] had
opportunity to be Speaker for four years, and Minister of Transportation for
eight years. He never made angry Nigerians to be happy; but people stayed in
office for six months and he started telling people how Nigerians are angry.
“I have said everybody should show your scorecard. when I was
a Senate President let me show my scorecard – how did I help the people of
Benue State, how did I help the people of Otukpo, is it by flying a helicopter
to Otukpo?
“We are here for 16 days and we are showing our scorecard
and this time, it’s Operation Show Your Scorecard.
“God gave you the opportunity to be in office to make
Nigerians happy according to you, but you refused; because you have left
office, you are saying Nigerians are angry, because you want to return to
power. You will not come back to power.”
