Dr. Ayo Olorunfemi, Deputy National Chairman of the Labour Party, mentioned that the party learned from a mistake and changed the name of a directorate from "Obidient" to the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration.
Olorunfemi made this known during an interview with Arise TV. He said the name change is due to the controversy surrounding the Directorate of OBIDIENT Affairs, which has been renamed to the Directorate of Mobilisation and Integration.
The new name suggests a shift in focus towards integrating party members and mobilizing support across the country. This new directorate aims to bridge gaps between the party and various interest groups, focusing on grassroots sensitization and membership registration with core values of integrity and transparency.
The directorate was inaugurated on June 8, 2024, at the party's National Secretariat in Abuja. The party plans to appoint state coordinators to strengthen grassroots mobilization.
The restructuring of this directorate is part of the Labour Party's strategy to build a more effective and cohesive party structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
