Uba Sani, governor of Kaduna, has removed Muhammad Bello
from his position as commissioner for information and appointed Ahmed Maiyaki
as his replacement.
In a statement issued on Tuesday, Ibraheem Musa, the
governor’s chief press secretary (CPS), stated that Maiyaki’s appointment is
effective immediately.
Maiyaki was the managing director of Kaduna State Media
Corporation (KSMC) before his appointment as commissioner.
While no reason was given for Bello’s removal, the CPS said
he was the commissioner for education before his redeployment to the ministry
of information.
He added that the governor expressed gratitude to Bello for
his service and wished him success in his future endeavours.
However, in a resignation letter seen by TheCable on
Tuesday, Bello voluntarily stepped down from his position as a commissioner and
member of the state’s executive council.
“Reference to letter number GH/KD/S/171 dated 27th July
2023, appointing me as commissioner and member of the Kaduna state executive
council, I wish to notify you of my decision to voluntarily resign with
immediate effect,” the letter reads.
“I wish to place on record my profound gratitude and
appreciation for the opportunity afforded me to serve in the capacities I did.”
