A devastating building collapse occurred in the Sabon Gari area of Fagge Local Government Area (LGA) in Kano State, resulting in the deaths of four individuals and injuring seven others.
The incident happened on Sunday evening, July 13, around 6:42 p.m., shortly after a heavy downpour in the Abedi area.
The prolonged and heavy downpour is believed to have contributed to the collapse of the three-story uncompleted building. Some of the victims were construction workers, while others were passersby who had taken shelter in the building to escape the rain.
The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) and other responders were quickly mobilized to the scene, conducting a joint Search and Rescue operation.
As of 11:30 a.m. Monday, a total of 11 people were pulled out of the rubble, with four confirmed dead and seven injured. The seven survivors were rushed to Murtala Muhammed Specialist Hospital for treatment.
Rescue teams continue to search for anyone else potentially trapped under the debries.
NEMA's Kano State Territorial Office confirmed the incident, with Coordinator Dr. Nuraddeen Abdullahi providing details on the agency's response.
