Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar on Wednesday disclosed why he visited the graveside of ex-President Muhammadu Buhari and the deceased widow, Mrs Aisha.
Atiku said he and former Governor Nasir El-Rufai of Kaduna
State and other members of the opposition coalition visited Mrs Buhari and the
graveside to offer special prayers for the deceased.
Buhari died on July 16, 2025 in a London Clinic and was
flown back to Daura in Katsina State on Tuesday where he was buried.
On Wednesday, Atiku, El-Rufai, Peter Obi, and other members
of the coalition visited the family.
However, Atiku posted on X: “This afternoon, I completed a
three-day condolence visit to Daura, Katsina State, where I joined many other
sympathisers for the third-day prayers in honour of the late President
Muhammadu Buhari.
“Before participating in the larger congregational prayers,
I, along with former Kaduna State Governor Mallam Nasir el-Rufai, offered
special prayers at the graveside of the deceased.
“Before leaving Daura, I visited Aisha Buhari, the widowed
former First Lady, to express my condolences.
“Once again, may Almighty Allah forgive his sins and grant
him Aljannatul Firdaus. -AA”
