Members of the Plateau State House of Assembly, led by Speaker Rt. Hon. Naanlong Gapyil Daniel, paid a solidarity visit to the All Progressives Congress (APC) National Chairman, Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, at the party’s National Secretariat in Abuja on Tuesday, affirming their support for his leadership following his recent election.
The visit, shows the strong backing for Yilwatda within his home state, following his appointment as APC National Chairman on July 24, 2025, succeeding Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The delegation expressed confidence in Yilwatda’s ability to unite the party and drive its agenda forward.
“This visit is to show our unwavering support for our own, Prof. Nentawe, whose leadership we believe will strengthen the APC and bring progress to Plateau State and Nigeria,”Speaker Daniel stated during the visit.
Yilwatda, a Plateau native and former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management, and Social Development, was unanimously elected by the APC’s National Executive Committee (NEC), a move celebrated by the Plateau State APC chapter as a “reward for loyalty and hard work.”
The visit highlights the region’s pride in Yilwatda, the second Plateau citizen to lead a ruling party in Nigeria, following Chief Solomon Lar’s tenure as PDP National Chairman.
The lawmakers also commended President Bola Tinubu for his role in Yilwatda’s appointment, noting that it reinforces the North-Central region’s influence within the APC.
The visit signals a unified front as the party prepares for future elections, with the Plateau Assembly pledging to mobilize support for APC candidates at all levels.
