A passenger aircraft crashed shortly after taking off from Southend Airport on Sunday afternoon, July 13, around 4 pm local time.
The incident resulted in a massive fireball and thick plumes of smoke rising into the sky. Initial reports indicate that the aircraft was a Beech B200 Super King Air, a twin-engine turboprop jet.
The plane was reportedly bound for Lelystad in the Netherlands.The aircraft belonged to Zeusch Aviation, a Dutch-based company.
Police, fire, and rescue teams responded immediately to the crash site. The area around the crash site has been cordoned off to allow for ongoing work.
Authorities are investigating the cause of the crash.The number of people on board and any casualties have not been confirmed.
Witnesses described the crash as "tragic," with some claiming they had waved to the crew moments before the disaster.
Footage shows flames engulfing the wreckage of the plane and heavy smoke rising from the area.
