A former presidential aide, Reuben Abati, has urged the Governor of Edo State, Senator Monday Okpebholo, to humble himself and apologise to Peter Obi.
Apart from the few backings he had received from the likes
of the Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, the governor’s
threat to Obi has been met with condemnations from Nigerians of all walks of
life.
However, Okpebholo came out on Tuesday to say he has no
regret telling Obi to always notify him while coming to the state.
Okpebholo noted that his directive was only an advice and
not a threat.
He recalled that his failure to adhere to such directive by
a Commissioner of Police during the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki
caused the death of his police orderly, Inspector Akor Onu, at the Benin
Airport.
But Reuben Abati, a popular media personality, said the
governor does not have such powers to demand permission from Obi.
“If Peter Obi decides tomorrow to take a second wife, will
Okpebholo say he cannot come to Edo and take an Edo woman?” he queried.
“He should apologize for embarrassing Edo people,” Abati
said.
