Governor Dikko Radda of Katsina State has disclosed some of his conversations with the late former President Muhammadu Buhari while he was alive.
Radda recalled that Buhari advised him to do his best as a
leader because he could not satisfy Nigerians.
He recounted that during one of their conversations, Buhari
informed him that only God can satisfy Nigerians.
The governor disclosed this while addressing journalists on
the sidelines of Buhari’s burial in the Daura area of Katsina State yesterday.
Buhari, who died in London, was buried yesterday with full
military honours.
However, the governor recalled that the deceased former
leader was very jovial.
Radda said: “After he left office in 2023, he spent about
two years in Daura, Katsina. In that period, I was fortunate to interact with
him more frequently, discussing national issues. He was a jovial person who
often made me laugh.
“He always told me, ‘Your Excellency, go and do your best
and be honest as a leader. You cannot satisfy Nigerians; only God can do that.’
“He said he suffered a lot, but now he sees himself as a
free man with a sense of relief.”
