Nigeria is better, safer, and thriving under Tinubu - Tunji Alausa

The Minister of Education, Dr. Tunji Alausa, has asserted that Nigeria is experiencing significant progress under President Bola Tinubu’s administration, describing the country as “better, safer, and more prosperous” despite skepticism from some citizens.

Speaking during an interview on Channels Television’s Politics Today on Tuesday, July 29, 2025, Alausa urged Nigerians to look beyond political rhetoric and recognize the administration’s achievements.

“People are just blind,” Alausa stated. “Let us get out of this political rhetoric. We are seeing the facts. The country is much better, safer.

There is an increase in prosperity in the country. I am telling you. Our macro-economic indicators are much better.” He pointed to data from the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), highlighting GDP growth, a significant rise in agricultural output, and ongoing infrastructural development as evidence of progress.

“I didn’t make it. The President did not make it. The numbers speak for themselves,” he added.

Alausa’s remarks come amid mixed public sentiments about the Tinubu administration’s performance, with some Nigerians expressing concerns over economic challenges, including inflation and unemployment.

However, the minister emphasized that macro-economic indicators reflect a positive trajectory, crediting Tinubu’s policies for driving growth in key sectors.

The NBS report referenced by Alausa, released earlier in July 2025, indicated a 3.2% GDP growth rate for Q2 2025, driven largely by agriculture and infrastructure investments, though critics argue that these gains have yet to translate into tangible improvements for ordinary citizens.

Alausa called on Nigerians to focus on the “facts” and engage constructively with the government’s reforms, which he said are laying the foundation for long-term prosperity.

The administration, he noted, remains committed to addressing challenges while building on its achievements in economic and infrastructural development.
