Olajide Adediran, popularly known as Jandor and the lead convener of the Lagos4Lagos Movement, participated in the Lagos State Local Government and Councillorship elections on Saturday.
Adediran, who was also the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP,
gubernatorial candidate in the 2023 election, cast his vote at his designated
polling unit and emphasized the importance of local governance in everyday
life.
Speaking with journalists shortly after voting, Adediran
described local government as the most immediate and impactful level of
government for citizens.
“Today, I voted not just for candidates, but for the
progress of our local communities. Local governments are the first responders
to the needs of the people, they shape the quality of life at the grassroots,”
he said.
He encouraged eligible voters across Lagos to turn out and
participate actively in the electoral process, stressing that civic engagement
at the local level is crucial for ensuring transparency, accountability, and
development.
“I want to remind Lagosians that their Permanent Voter’s
Card is more than an ID, it’s a tool for real change. Whether it’s your first
time or you’re a returning voter, use your PVC to decide the direction of your
ward, your local council, and our great state,” he stated.
Adediran also commended the Lagos State Governor, Babajide
Sanwo-Olu, and the Commissioner of Police for fostering a peaceful and credible
electoral environment.
Also present at the polling unit were several prominent
political figures, including former Lagos Deputy Governor Princess Sarah Sosan
and former Ojo Local Government Chairman Yinka Durosimi, alongside other
influential members of the All Progressives Congress, APC.
