Lagos govt seals Lekki nightclub over noise pollution

The Lagos State Government has sealed the Light House Club located in Admiralty Way in Lekki over alleged violation of the state’s noise pollution regulations.

The joint enforcement operation was carried out by officials of the Lagos State Environmental Sanitation Corps, also known as KAI, and the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency.

According to a post by the Commissioner for Water and Environmental Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, on his X (Twitter) on Monday, he stated that the action followed repeated warnings to the club’s management, which were allegedly ignored.

He said the closure would stand until the club fully meets environmental standards and receives confirmation from the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency on their compliance with the approved noise levels.

“The closure will remain in effect until the club management fully complies with environmental standards.

This includes implementing proper soundproofing measures, and LASEPA confirming their adherence to approved noise levels”, he said.

He further stated that entertainment venues across Lagos that are against the environmental laws are not optional, noting that the right of residents to a peaceful environment comes before any business interest.
