Kwankwaso Accuses Tinubu Administration of Neglecting Northern Nigeria in Resource Allocation

Senator Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, the 2023 presidential candidate of the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP), has accused President Bola Tinubu’s administration of marginalizing northern Nigeria in the distribution of national resources.

Speaking at the Kano State Stakeholders’ Dialogue on the 2025 Constitutional Amendment on Thursday, July 24, Kwankwaso highlighted the poor state of infrastructure in the North, particularly federal roads.

Recounting a recent road trip from Abuja to Kano, Kwankwaso described the journey as “terrible” due to the deplorable condition of the Abuja-Kaduna-Kano road.

“Yesterday, I had to travel by road because my flight was delayed. The road is in a very bad state,” he said, criticizing the neglect of northern infrastructure while new projects flourish in the South and East.

“We support development everywhere, but dumping resources in one part of the country while neglecting others is unfair,” he added.

Kwankwaso, who campaigned across Nigeria during the 2023 elections, lamented that long-standing northern road projects remain abandoned.

He urged the government to demonstrate fairness and govern inclusively. On the ongoing constitutional review, Kwankwaso called on Kano lawmakers to unite and protect the state’s interests, warning against external influences.

“We’ve seen wealthy individuals manipulate lawmakers to skew resource distribution,” he said, urging legislators to resist such pressures and prioritize their constituents’ needs.

As the constitutional amendment process continues, Kwankwaso’s call for equitable governance is likely to fuel further debate.
