Kano State Govt Approves ₦69 Billion for Infrastructure, Education, Social Services


The Kano State Executive Council has approved over ₦69 billion for a comprehensive package of developmental projects and interventions in the state. 


This initiative aims to bring the dividends of democracy to Kano residents by focusing on critical sectors. The council approved ₦24.7 billion for the expansion of Katsina Road from Baban Gwari Roundabout to Mil Tara Junction, including the construction of five reinforced concrete pedestrian bridges.


For roads, ₦7.8 billion was allocated for the rehabilitation and asphalt overlay of key roads, including RMK Flyover, IBB Road, Kofar Mazugal Junction, and Katsina Road. ₦3.8 billion was approved for the construction of 10 new concrete pedestrian bridges at strategic locations.


The council also approved ₦3 billion allocation for the renovation of 13 public boarding schools that were previously shut down. Over ₦1.2 billion was approved for the renovation of dilapidated structures in several government technical colleges and secondary schools.


For education, ₦190 million was allocated for the establishment of a new primary school in Gishiri-Wuya community, Warawa LGA. ₦300 million was approved for the conduct of 2025 internal examinations, and ₦718 million was allocated to settle outstanding boarding school feeding liabilities.


The council approved ₦180 million as counterpart funding for the Free Maternal, Neonatal, and Child Health programme. ₦240 million was allocated for the procurement of a brand-new Toyota Coaster bus for the School of Health Technology, Bebeji.


I'm addition to health, ₦100 million was approved for the operational needs of the Kano Ultra-Modern Specialist Hospital (KUSH). ₦344 million was allocated as counterpart funding for routine immunisation for the second quarter of 2025.


The comprehensive package of developmental projects reflects the government's commitment to improving infrastructure, education, and healthcare in Kano State.
