A coalition of opposition parties in Kaduna State, led by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), has declared its intention to unseat the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.
Spokesman of the group, Salihu Mohammed Lukman, a former APC member, said the coalition is determined to build a strong political front under the ADC platform to challenge the APC both in the state and nationally.
The coalition includes members from various parties, such as the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Labour Party (LP).
The coalition emphasizes the importance of unity, collective leadership, and equal participation among its members, warning against turning the ADC into a platform for personal ambitions.
Consultations are underway to strengthen party structures across Kaduna's 23 local governments and 255 wards, aiming to build a robust and inclusive political movement.
The coalition reportedly has the support of prominent opposition figures, including former Kaduna State Governor Nasir El-Rufai, Senator Nenadi Usman, and Labour Party's National Chairman, Senator Datti Baba-Ahmed.
The group aims to promote inclusive politics, tolerance, and unity in Kaduna State, which has been plagued by divisive politics.
According to Lilian, the coalition leaders urge aspiring opposition politicians to demonstrate tolerance and openness, warning that intolerance breeds discrimination, rigging, and abuse of power.
He stressed that unseating the ruling APC will require a collective effort, emphasizing that no single individual can achieve this goal alone.
“We must produce a party with collective leadership committed to addressing the real issues affecting citizens,” he said.
Lukman added that negotiations are ongoing to finalize the national interim leadership of the ADC, after which formal guidelines for party reorganisation at all levels will be issued.
He concluded by stressing that unity among all opposition parties is essential to defeating the APC and President Bola Tinubu, both nationally and in Kaduna State.
