Police in Ogun State arrested Wasiu Oloyede, a notorious leader of a kidnapping syndicate, on Sunday, July 20, 2025, in the Odo Pako area of Ota.
Oloyede’s gang had abducted a soldier in Alagbado, Lagos, on Friday, July 18, stealing his uniform, ID card, ATM cards, and phone.
The soldier managed to escape captivity.
In an attempt to exploit the stolen military uniform, Oloyede tried to deceive and overpower a Vigilante member to steal his dane gun.
His scheme failed, leading to his arrest by the police.
