Ibadan North PDP Chairman resigns over alleged imposition, intimidation

Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Ibadan North Local Government Area of Oyo State, Prince Seun Adelore, has resigned from his position.

Adelore said that his resignation takes effect from July 7, 2025. He noted that he resigned from his position due to alleged imposition and intimidation.

The resignation of Adelore is coming a few weeks before the bye-election to fill the vacant position for the Ibadan North Federal Constituency seat. The last occupant of the seat, Hon. Musliudeen Olaide Akinremi, died last year. Akinremi, who was serving his second term in office, was elected on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC).

The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) had, a few days ago, announced that the bye-election will be held in August to fill the vacant position.

Adelore, in the resignation letter addressed to the Oyo State PDP Chairman, obtained on Monday, cited what he described as deep-seated injustice within the party. He said that the party lacked reward for loyalty.

The former PDP chairman maintained that his decision to resign from the party followed extensive consultations with his political associates and followers.

He said, “I write to formally tender my resignation as the Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Ibadan North Local Government, effective July 7, 2025. I also hereby withdraw my membership from the party.”
