Governors Hesitant to Join ADC Due to Presidency, APC Intimidation, Says Bolaji Abdullahi

Bolaji Abdullahi, interim national publicity secretary of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), revealed on Saturday, July 26, during the third expanded meeting of the national political consultative group (north) in Abuja that serving governors are hesitant to join the ADC due to alleged intimidation from the presidency and the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Abdullahi described this reluctance as part of a broader “conspiracy against the Nigerian people.” He stated, “No serving governor will join us now because of the intimidation they face. Some, unable to defect to the APC, are endorsing their presidential candidate. But this is a conspiracy against Nigerians. The ADC welcomes all, backed by the majority unhappy with the country’s direction.”

He emphasized that the ADC is not centered on any individual’s ambition, saying,

“The ADC won’t be hijacked. Our process ensures the party doesn’t revolve around one person. We’re building a party to change Nigeria’s political trajectory, not to serve predetermined agendas or favorite candidates.”

Abdullahi clarified that no discussions about the party’s flag bearer have taken place, noting, “It’s too early. Our focus is building a strong party to deliver on our mission.”
