Fulham Football Club has rejected a bid from Atletico Madrid for Super Eagles midfielder Alex Iwobi.
According to reports, the Spanish club offered $21.5 million for the 29-year-old player, along with a four-year contract worth €7 million per year. Despite reportedly being interested in the move, Fulham are unwilling to let Iwobi go.
The midfielder was a standout player for Fulham last season, scoring 10 goals and providing six assists in 38 league appearances. He also made history as the first Nigerian to play all 38 Premier League games in two different seasons.
Atletico Madrid sees Iwobi as a potential replacement for Belgium international Yannick Carrasco. However, Fulham's refusal to sell suggests they value Iwobi's contributions to the team.
Iwobi's impressive performance last season earned him a second-place finish in Fulham's Player of the Season vote, behind his international teammate Calvin Bassey.
