A hit-and-run truck driver on Monday ran over a tricycle with registration number DED 425 WB around Oke Iganmu, along Papa-Ilaro road, killing all four occupants in the tricycle.
The spokesperson for the Federal Road Safety Corps, Ogun State Sector Command, Florence Okpe, disclosed this in a statement on Monday.
Okpe said the corpses of the accident victims had been deposited at the morgue of the State Hospital, Ilaro.
She blamed the tragic incident on excessive speed and dangerous driving on the part of the truck driver, who was said not to have refused to wait after the accident.
Okpe said, “The crash involved two vehicles. A Yellow tricycle with registration number DED425WB and an unknown vehicle.”
“It was a hit-and-run case.
“A total of four passengers (two male adults and two female adults) were involved in the crash. All occupants of the tricycle were killed. The corpses were deposited at the State Hospital Morgue, Ilaro.
“The suspected causes of the crash were speeding and dangerous driving”.
Meanwhile, the Ogun State Sector Commander of the FRSC, Akinwumi Fasakin, has sympathised with the families of the deceased and urged all road users to be safety conscious.
