FG set to Establish Cattle Breeding Centers in Nigeria’s Six Regions

The Federal Government has unveiled plans to establish cattle breeding centers in each of Nigeria’s six geopolitical zones to boost livestock development and address herder-farmer conflicts.

The announcement was made by Dr. Aliyu Sabi Abdullahi, Minister of State for Agriculture, during the second day of the Citizens’-Government Engagement and Midterm Review of the Tinubu Administration, hosted by the Sir Ahmadu Bello Foundation in Kaduna on July 29, 2025.

Speaking at the event, Abdullahi emphasized the need for collaboration among the Ministries of Agriculture, Environment, Water Resources, Livestock Development, and the Blue Economy to achieve the goals of President Bola Tinubu’s Renewed Hope Agenda.

“This synergy is critical to delivering sustainable agricultural growth and ensuring food security,” he stated.

The proposed breeding centers aim to modernize livestock production, enhance economic opportunities, and promote peace in rural communities.
