Ex-General Opposes State of Emergency in North, Advises Tinubu on Resolving Insecurity

Retired Brig-Gen Kapeh Alwali Kazir has advised President Bola Tinubu to adopt strong political will and commitment to resolving insecurity in the northern part of the country.

Kazir suggested deploying more troops to affected areas, providing sophisticated surveillance equipment for real-time intelligence, and engaging in effective international diplomacy to deprive criminals of resources.

Kazir emphasized the need for strong political will and commitment to address insecurity in the north. He rejected the demand for a state of emergency, suggesting that practical measures would be more effective.

Kazir recommended deploying more troops, providing surveillance equipment, and engaging in international diplomacy to tackle insecurity.

He noted that state governors have already invested significantly in security and would likely oppose a state of emergency.

”I believe with proper equipment, support, and clear directives, the troops can successfully tackle the security challenges as long as the Federal Government is committed to applying all instruments of national power to achieve the desired outcome.

”Declaring a state of emergency would not be necessary to address the security situation in the North. Government must deploy more troops to affected areas, provide sophisticated surveillance equipment for real-time intelligence and engage in effective international diplomacy to deprive criminals of resources,” the retired army general stated
